Oklahoma State quarterback Taylor Cornelius was one of 10 semifinalists for the Burlsworth Trophy, given each year to the most outstanding college football player who began his career as a walk-on.
Through nine games, Cornelius has thrown for 2,622 yards and 20 touchdowns, completing 181 of 302 passes. He ranks in the top 10 nationally in passing yards and the Cowboys rank No. 10 nationally in total offense.
Other semifinalists include Cal running back Patrick Laird, Clemson receiver Hunter Renfrow, Michigan State defensive end Kenny Willekes, Minnesota linebacker Blake Cashman, North Carolina linebacker Cole Holcomb, Oklahoma receiver Lee Morris, Utah State center Quin Ficklin, Wisconsin linebacker Ryan Connelly and Wyoming safety Marcus Epps.
