STILLWATER — A week after saving the day as a third-stringer, true freshman Shane Illingworth made his first career start as Oklahoma State’s quarterback Saturday against West Virginia.
Spencer Sanders — who injured his ankle last week — was seen going through warmups with the second string during pregame, but his availability was unknown.
Illingworth replaced second-string quarterback Ethan Bullock with 2:02 left in the third quarter of last week’s 16-7 win over Tulsa. He completed four of five passes for 79 yards and led the Cowboys to 13 fourth-quarter points in the come-from-behind victory.
