With his carry totals skyrocketing this season, OSU running back Chuba Hubbard spent most of his time on the sidelines last week when the Cowboys went through a couple of open-week practices.
More importantly, it gave less experienced players like junior-college transfer Dezmon Jackson and walk-on Micah Cooper opportunities for additional work.
“Dez and Micah and some of those younger guys got some good reps,” Hubbard said. “We’re gonna need them, so it was good that they got those reps in.”
Hubbard’s workload has been a constant issue over the last month. He has an NCAA-leading 162 carries through six games, with only one other back in the country having more than 129.
