OSU football: QB Dru Brown would need waiver to transfer again

With Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy seemingly trying to retain quarterback Dru Brown’s redshirt while navigating the 2018 season, Brown is potentially heading toward a unique situation in 2019: second-year graduate transfer.

Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in three years, spending his first collegiate season at College of San Mateo before two years at Hawaii. He transferred to OSU in the offseason, arriving in Stillwater days before fall camp began. He hasn’t appeared in the Cowboys’ first four games and can play in up to four games this season and retain his final year of eligibility.

Kyle Gallup, Brown’s former roommate at Hawaii, told The Oklahoman in August that Brown would be open to redshirting this season and returning to OSU in 2019 to compete with Spencer Sanders, a freshman this year, to be the Cowboys’ quarterback.
