Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy couldn’t recall exactly when he and his staff made the choice to go with Spencer Sanders as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback.
“We made that decision to go ahead and put him in, and see how he executed,” Gundy said. “Then, obviously, once he started playing good, we just rode that wave.”
Sanders was 19-of-24 for 203 yards and three touchdowns, plus 109 rushing yards in the Cowboys' 52-36 win over Oregon State.
The other competitor in the quarterback competition, fifth-year senior Dru Brown, only entered for the final series of the game to run out the clock.
