Early in the fourth quarter during Oklahoma State's 36-30 loss at Texas, coach Mike Gundy faced a decision.
Kick a field goal and chip into a lead, go for it on fourth down or run a fake field goal. He chose the fake after a penalty, and it did not work out.
Asked afterward if OSU designed the fake for the 1-yard situation but stuck with it even after a 5-yard penalty, Gundy declined the elaborate.
“I’d rather not talk about fakes,” Gundy said.
Here was the scenario: Texas led by five early in the fourth and OSU’s fake was a trick play that had holder Jake McClure flip the football to Jelani Woods, who was streaking across the field behind the line.
