STILLWATER — Oklahoma State junior safety Kolby Harvell-Peel was one of 90 players named to the preseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the nation’s best defensive player in college football.
Harvell-Peel was a first-team All-Big 12 selection after finishing the season with 71 tackles, five interceptions, 13 pass breakups and a quarterback sack.
His 1.5 passes defended per game ranked fourth in the Football Bowl Subdivision. He set a school record for pass breakups with six against Iowa State.
Semifinalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced Nov. 3, with three finalists unveiled Nov.
