Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles likes the talent he sees in his backup safeties.
But his starters have been so vital to the defense’s success, Knowles can rarely use the backups.
In the lead-up to the Texas Bowl against Texas A&M at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Knowles has given the young backups some extra first-team work, which might translate to more game action.
Starter Tre Sterling will be out for the first half, serving the final portion of his penalty for a targeting call in the Bedlam game. Kolby Harvell-Pell suffered an injury on the final play of the loss to OU, which opened the door someone to get more practice time as well.
