With just five of its 20 spring workouts remaining following Monday's practice, the Oklahoma State football team is nearing the end of the first phase of its quarterback competition.
The second phase begins in June when graduate transfer Dru Brown and incoming freshman Spencer Sanders arrive.
Until then, fifth-year senior Taylor Cornelius seems to be stepping to the front of the race, particularly coming out of last Friday's scrimmage in which he continued to run the first-team offense.
“It's always interesting to see how a quarterback reacts if you're the guy that goes out with the first team in practice,” coach Mike Gundy said on Monday.
