OSU football journal: Former Cowboy linebacker Ryan Simmons stops by bowl practice

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A familiar face with local roots stopped by a recent Oklahoma State Alamo Bowl practice.

Ryan Simmons — a former OSU linebacker who recorded 96 tackles as a junior in 2014 — visited the Cowboys on Friday at Alamo Heights High School. Simmons was recruited out of Cibolo from the same Steele High School program that produced senior safety Jordan Sterns in the San Antonio area.

“I'm really excited,” Simmons said. “I haven't seen the team since April at my pro day. I've been telling the guys that I was going to come up for a game, but I never had the chance to.
