Oklahoma State's search for offensive balance has shifted and differed as this season has progressed, with creativity necessary to offset a pedestrian running game.
The Cowboys have gone unconventional in trying to goose the running game, utilizing receivers as rushers and inserting situational quarterback J.W. Walsh to change the focus of defenses.
With OSU facing an improved Oklahoma defense Saturday, expect the creativity to continue.
“You want to make sure the defense is honest,” said Cowboys offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. “That's the most important thing. So whether you're throwing it 60 percent of the time or running it 60 percent of the time, the most important thing is that the defense doesn't know what you're going to do and you can't lean on one tendency.
