OSU football journal: Cowboys return to Sugar Bowl, 70 years later

The last time OSU played in the Sugar Bowl, it did so as Oklahoma A&M.

Now the Cowboys are returning, 70 years later to the day. And oh how times have changed.

The 25-cent program for that game, played on Jan. 1, 1946, features a cover with a ball-carrying baby stepping on the head of a fallen man fitted with a Trojan helmet stamped with “The War Years” across the front.

The Cowboys were the Missouri Valley Conference champions that year. And in the game played at Tulane Stadium, A&M popped St. Mary's (California), 33-13, behind Bob Fenimore.
