OSU football journal: Cowboys had '4 wheeler,' Texas goes '18 wheeler'

STILLWATER — Opponents had to deal with OSU's dual-quarterback offense a year ago, preparing for the different approaches required in defending Mason Rudolph and J.W. Walsh.

Now it's Texas' turn to stretch defenses.

The Longhorns are having major success with the tandem of Shane Buechele and Tyrone Swoopes.

Buechele, a true freshman and the son of Texas Rangers bench coach Steve Buechele, is the passer, although he can make plays with his feet, too.

“He's a really good player and seems to fit the system that they're trying to execute,” Cowboys coach Mike Gundy said in referencing UT's new spread offense.
