OSU football: How OSU can fix its problem running the ball — don't

MORGANTOWN, W.V. — Oklahoma State has a problem running the football.

Can't do it.

Well, the Cowboys can try it, but they stink at it. They rank 102nd nationally, averaging only 3.8 yards per carry, well below the 5.0 mark widely seen as the standard for effectiveness. What's more, as the quality of opponents has gone up, the run game production has gone down.

So, here's a suggestion to help this offense as it struggles running the football.

Don't do it.

I realized it's a radical thought that flabbergasts disciples of tough-guy, smash-mouth football.
