Oklahoma State linebacker Josh Mabin, a redshirt sophomore expected to play a key backup role this season, announced Monday that his football career is over.
Mabin revealed in a message on Twitter that a recently discovered medical condition -- hypertrophic cardiomyopathy -- puts him at too much risk to continue playing.
"For those of you who may not know, recent tests have brought to light that I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In basic terms, my heart has built up too much muscle to properly pump an efficient amount of blood, and it puts me at an extremely high risk of sudden cardiac death.
