TULSA — When DJ Jones was a junior, college recruiters kept flowing into Booker T. Washington High School.
But none of them were coming to see him.
Players like Rylan McQuarters and Dax Hill drew scouts from all across the country, but coach Brad Calip kept reinforcing the same message to Jones.
“I just kept telling him to be patient,” Calip said in the Tulsa Washington gym Wednesday afternoon, after Jones signed his letter of intent with Oklahoma State.
“It was tough. It was all about Rylan and Dax. That's what they saw, and they never gave him a chance, until coach (Tim) Duffie finally did.
