AUSTIN, Texas — Tom Herman met Mike Gundy at midfield after a wild Saturday night at Royal-Memorial Stadium.
“I told Coach Gundy after the game, I said he’s got himself one in that quarterback,” Herman related.
If only Herman had imparted such knowledge before the game.
Texas beat OSU 36-30 because the Cowboys squandered scoring chance after scoring chance, and that squandering was rooted in Gundy and/or new offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson not realizing who was their best weapon, at least on this muggy night deep in the heart of Texas.
The Longhorns bottled up the nation’s leading rusher, OSU’s Chuba Hubbard, while quarterback Spencer Sanders had a coming-out party in front of the ABC cameras.
