STILLWATER — The bad news Oklahoma State fans had feared since Saturday became public knowledge Thursday afternoon.
OSU quarterback Spencer Sanders underwent surgery to repair his injured thumb Monday and will not return during the regular season, The Oklahoman has confirmed.
Sanders was removed in the third quarter of OSU’s 31-13 win over Kansas last Saturday because of the injury to a ligament in the thumb on his throwing hand. News of his surgery was first reported by Dusty Dvoracek of ESPN and the Sports Animal radio network.
OSU coach Mike Gundy initially said Sanders was removed from the game for precautionary reasons.
