UTSA, while 0-2, has been in both of its losses, even last week in a 30-3 setback to Kansas State, which led just 13-3 after three quarters.
One fatal flaw for the Roadrunners in each loss: the big play.
UTSA has already allowed 11 explosive plays – plays of 20 yards or longer – including nine via the pass, likely a reflection of a secondary that features six freshmen or sophomores on the two-deep.
“Definitely, I’m concerned about it,” said UTSA coach Larry Coker.
The big plays have led to eight scoring drives for opponents, including five touchdowns.
