In its first meet of 2019, the Oklahoma State equestrian team fell 11-8 against No. 4 Baylor in Waco, Texas.
After Baylor took the victory in equitation on the flat, it was mathematically impossible for OSU to catch up to the Bears. The loss ended the No. 7 Cowgirls' (2-5 overall, 1-2 Big 12) four-game winning streak against Baylor.
The first half of the meet opened with fences and reining. The Bears (4-3, 2-1) took a 5-2 lead after Sydney Scheckel edged OSU’s Hannah Mitchell 73.5-71. This marked Mitchell’s second loss of the season.
Junior Emma Verplank also suffered her first loss of the season in horsemanship after falling to Baylor's Kaylee Mellot 76.
