STILLWATER — The first person Trey Reeves told was his mom. His father, though, was a little harder to get a hold of.
Friday, Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton put Reeves, a junior walk-on, on scholarship for the 2018-19 season. Reeves tried to tell his dad, former Cowboy and All-American Bryant “Big Country” Reeves, but Bryant Reeves was working and didn’t have signal. A text message from Boynton reached him before any word from Trey.
“He called me back and said, ‘Congratulations, that’s cool.’ He said, ‘Great job, that’s a big deal,’” Trey Reeves said. “We talked about it a little bit longer, but I didn’t get to break the news to him.
