STILLWATER — A day after his former top assistant pleaded guilty to federal charges, Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton said he continues to pray for him.
Wednesday, former OSU associate head coach Lamont Evans pleaded guilty to accepting $22,000 in bribes to steer players toward certain financial advisers. Evans, 41, entered the plea Wednesday in Manhattan federal court to a charge of conspiracy to commit bribery, stemming from an FBI investigation into corruption throughout college basketball.
“Like I said from the very beginning, it’s an unfortunate situation,” Boynton told reporters Thursday. “Still believe in my core that Lamont’s a good person and caught up in a tough situation.
