Oklahoma State basketball player Tyrek Coger showed no signs of struggle during a 40-minute workout late Thursday afternoon.
But after the conclusion of the workout inside Boone Pickens Stadium where players where running stadium steps, he sat down at the top of the steps and began to experience medical issues. OSU officials said Friday morning that when it was determined Coger needed medical attention, 911 was called at 5:04 p.m. He was taken to Stillwater Medical Center, arriving at 5:48 p.m.
At 6:23 p.m. Thursday, Coger died.
“There is no worse feeling than getting a call about one of your players that is like this,” OSU basketball coach Brad Underwood said during an emotional press conference.
