OSU basketball: Cowboys miss out on NCAA Tournament

STILLWATER — Mike Boynton pleaded his team’s case. Oklahoma State did what it could on the court. The efforts were not enough.

The Cowboys were not among the 68 teams announced as the NCAA Tournament field Sunday. At 19-14 with an 8-10 Big 12 record, they are likely set to be one of the top seeds in the NIT, hosting games in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

But that will provide little solace to an OSU team that overcame adversity time and again. Boynton, in his first year as not only the Cowboys’ coach but also as a head coach, took over after Brad Underwood surprisingly left for Illinois.
