STILLWATER – Kendall Smith made an abrupt change in plans, canceling a visit to Colorado and instead heading to Stillwater this weekend.
Once in Stillwater, Smith made a quick decision Friday, committing to the Oklahoma State basketball team.
A graduate transfer from Cal State Northridge, Smith made his announcement via Twitter while pictured in a black OSU jersey: “It’s official. I mean why not?”
The Cowboys have now added two transfer point guards in the span of a week, with Smith joining Miami (Ohio) sophomore-to-be Michael Weathers. Unlike Weathers, who must sit out next season per NCAA rules, Smith will be eligible for Mike Boynton’s debut season, adding impact and extending depth to a backcourt that loses starters Jawun Evans and Phil Forte.
