Bryant Reeves still isn’t sure whether Eddie Sutton’s threat was real. Reeves surely didn’t want to find out.
The 7-foot, 290-pound All-American was making a mess of Gallagher-Iba Arena during practices. Glass was everywhere.
Reeves broke one backboard in a 1993-94 practice. Sutton — Oklahoma State’s legendary coach — basically laughed it off. No big deal.
Ten days later, Reeves did it again.
Sutton’s famed scowl accompanied a threat.
“He threatened to charge my bursar account,” Reeves told The Oklahoman. “There was no money there at all. It was $35 a month, so I knew there was no way I could pay for the backboard.
