Oklahoma State point guards are hot.
On the court and off.
A week ago, Jawun Evans took his first – first! – Big 12 Player of the Week award.
Monday, Brandon Averette, Evans’ backup at the point, got the nod as Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
It took an injury to Evans (AC joint sprain) to clear the way for Averette’s first weekly award, yet he still had to step in and deliver, which he did Saturday in leading the Cowboys past Tulsa 71-67 in a game that was dicey down the stretch.
The true freshman from Richardson, Texas, scored a game- and career-high 17 points and added three assists, three steals and three rebounds in 37 minutes of action.
