TULSA — By accident, Ryan Sluder became a health-food “freak,” freeing himself from fast food and pop.
Perhaps, at least partly by that same accident, the Oklahoma State sophomore outfielder became a better ballplayer.
“Sluder’s constantly eating fish and all the crazy healthy stuff,” teammate and roommate Corey Hassel said with a laugh. “He doesn’t drink pop. He takes care of his body. We kind of give him a hard time for it, because we all like to eat fast food.
“I guess his dedication is kind of off the charts.”
Lately, Sluder’s been rising up the charts, climbing to the top of the Big 12’s batting leaders for conference-only games, hitting .
