OSU baseball: Robin Ventura reportedly joins coaching staff

STILLWATER — Robin Ventura is reportedly returning to Oklahoma State.

The former MLB All-Star and manager is joining the Cowboys’ baseball coaching staff as a student assistant, according to d1baseball.com.

With the addition of Ventura, the Cowboys now have two former All-Star coaches. Matt Holliday joined the staff as a volunteer assistant this offseason.

Ventura played for OSU from 1986-88. He still holds the NCAA hitting-streak record with a hit in 58 straight games. He batted .428 in his career. He received the Golden Spikes Award, given to the nation’s top player, in 1988.

He then played 16 seasons in the big leagues and was twice named to the All-Star Game.
