STILLWATER — Oklahoma State coach Josh Holliday had a plan to move Andrew Navigato down two spots in the batting order, from second to fourth.
But the idea came with some explaining.
“You’re still my two-hole hitter, but you’re batting fourth,” Holliday told him.
Navigato, a first-year Cowboy after transferring from Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo, California, quickly picked up on what his coach was asking of him.
Holliday didn’t need Navigato trying to be a stereotypical cleanup man. The skills that had made him such a reliable hitter in the second spot would still be put to use, just from a different place on the lineup card.
