Opinion: Oklahoma State's case with NCAA over Lamont Evans is a cautionary tale for rest of college basketball

The OSU basketball Mikes — coach Boynton, athletic director Holder — showed all the likely emotions last week on a teleconference.

In the wake of the NCAA’s decision to ban the Cowboys from the 2021 postseason, the Mikes were mad and mystified, disappointed and disillusioned, angry and outraged.

The Mikes had a point. It seems severe to ban OSU from the NCAA Tournament because then-assistant coach Lamont Evans was paid to give a financial advisor an audience with a Cowboy player. No intent for a competitive advantage on the court. No result in a competitive advantage on the court.
