Oklahoma State junior Viktor Hovland won the 2019 Ben Hogan Award as the top men’s college golfer taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions during the past 12 months, on Monday night.
Hovland became the fourth Cowboy to win the award, joining Hunter Mahan (2003), Rickie Fowler (2008) and Peter Uihlein (2011). In addition, Hovland is only the second European-born winner along with Arizona State’s Jon Rahm of Spain (2015, 2016).
Hovland is currently ranked No. 1 by three top ranking systems: World Amateur Golf Ranking, Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking and Golfweek/Sagarin Ranking.
