Oklahoma State entered Saturday afternoon undefeated and seemed primed to pick up its 30th win of the season.
But No. 16 Tennessee had other plans, defeating the top-ranked Cowgirls 4-2 in the Sweet 16 at the Greenwood Tennis Center. OSU ends its historic season with a 29-1 record, along with an ITA Indoor National Championship and a Big 12 regular season championship, but an NCAA title escaped the Cowgirls at the hands of the Volunteers.
"For 29 matches, we were the best team in the country. And today, we weren't," said coach Chris Young. "So that's just the way it rolls.
