Oklahoma State redshirt sophomore Daton Fix will wrestle Iowa alum Thomas Gilman on June 15 at Final X: Lincoln for the 57 kilograms spot on the United States men’s freestyle national World Championship team.
Fix, the NCAA national runner up at 125 pounds in March, earned his spot at Final X by defeating Gilman to win the U.S. Open in April in Las Vegas. Gilman, the 2017 World silver medalist, won two straight matches 4-0 and 5-2 against Darian Cruz at the World Team Trials best-of-three finals Sunday in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Fix dropped two consecutive matches to Gilman at last year’s Final X event in Lincoln, Nebraska.
