Oklahoma State alum Alex Dieringer will wrestle his rescheduled best-of-three series against reigning World champion Kyle Dake for the 79 kilogram spot on the United States’ World Championship men’s freestyle team Aug. 17 in Austin, Texas.
USA Wrestling announced the special wrestle-off Tuesday, but the time and venue have yet to be determined. FloSports, which is based in Austin, will broadcast the event.
The series was scheduled to take place June 8 at Final X: Rutgers, but Dake — four-time NCAA champion at Cornell — was granted a delay due to injury that he called a “freak accident” that required surgery.
