Oklahoma State redshirt sophomore Daton Fix said Thursday at the World Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan that he’s “leaning toward” taking an Olympic redshirt for the 2019-20 NCAA season.
“Yeah, I’m probably leaning toward it. I’m sure we’ll make a final decision here pretty quickly,” Fix said during a media scrum.
Fix went 1-1 at 57 kilograms in men’s freestyle at Worlds in only his second senior-level tournament. The Sand Springs native will have to go through the Olympic Trials next April at Penn State University to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Fix was 34-2 last season for the Cowboys and was the 133-pound Big 12 champion and NCAA runner-up.
