STILLWATER — Once AJ Ferrari got his opponent’s leg wrapped up, it took nearly 15 seconds to execute the takedown, but that was all Ferrari needed.
An Oklahoma State true freshman, Ferrari rode out the final minute-and-a-half for a 4-1 decision over Oklahoma’s Jake Woodley that sealed the Cowboys’ team victory in the Bedlam dual, 24-16 on Sunday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Ferrari, ranked No. 12, and Woodley, ranked 15th, battled for points, but each managed only a single escape point until early in the third period.
That’s when Ferrari grabbed Woodley’s ankle. Fighting for control and the takedown points, Ferrari finally got them with 90 seconds left in the match, and he maintained top position the rest of the way.
