CORVALLIS, Ore. — Just nine months ago, from an outsider's perspective, it appeared the Oklahoma State women's basketball program was in a state of disarray.
Six players transferred from the program. Two assistant coaches also left. Mass departures reflected by the Cowgirls' preseason Big 12 ranking among league coaches: eight out of 10.
But as OSU enters its first-round NCAA Tournament matchup against St. Bonaventure at 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Cowgirls' offseason woes are certainly painted in a different light.
“We've had addition by subtraction,” coach Jim Littell said.
That's no disrespect to the players who chose to go elsewhere, he added, but it's hard to argue with results as OSU reached the 20-win mark for the fifth-consecutive year and finished the regular season fourth in conference.
