Oklahoma State safety Deric Robertson leaving Cowboys

Cowboys safety Deric Robertson announced via Twitter that he’s leaving the football program and seeking a transfer.

Robertson, projected to be a reserve entering his junior season, didn’t announce where he’s heading next, but he did thank Mike Gundy, Glenn Spencer, the rest of the coaching staff and even the city of Stillwater in moving on “this new chapter in my life.”

Here’s the Tweet:

Robertson played in eight games as a true freshman and seemed to be on his way to becoming a fixture in the secondary.

But as a reserve a year ago, he finished with eight tackles and his major role came on special teams.
