Oklahoma State president Burns Hargis named to NCAA board of directors

STILLWATER — Burns Hargis has been named as the Big 12 representative on the NCAA board of directors, it was announced Tuesday.

Hargis, now in his ninth year as Oklahoma State's president, will serve alongside fellow respective NCAA leaders as part of the overall governing body for Division I; including strategy, policy, governance, membership and legislative oversight, according a Big 12 news release.

Among its more recent major decisions arrived in 2014, when the board voted 16-2 to allow Power-5 schools autonomy in decision making for cost-of-attendance stipends, insurance benefits for players, staff sizes, recruiting rules and mandatory hours spent on individual sports.
