Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis admits to something few other Cowboy fans will.
“I happen to like Baker Mayfield,” Hargis told reporters following an OSU/A&M Board of Regents meeting. “I think he’s done a great job."
However, when Hargis and presidents from all 10 Big 12 universities gathered in Irving, Texas, earlier this month for annual meetings, familiarity with Oklahoma's starting quarterback wasn't at issue when discussing a potential rule change that specifically impacts Mayfield's eligibility.
After initially voting the proposal down, the Big 12 reversed course to allow walk-ons without a written offer of aid from his or her school to transfer without penalty.
