Oklahoma State journal: Are more J.W. Walsh carries a possible solution to the Cowboys’ run-game woes?

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy made two things abundantly clear as the Cowboys exited their bye week to host Kansas on Saturday for Homecoming.

“We've got to find a way to run the ball better.”

“We need to expand (backup quarterback J.W. Walsh's) role as much as possible.”

Are those two goals mutually exclusive? It wouldn't appear so.

Through six games, OSU has averaged 137.5 yards rushing. Gundy reiterated this week he wants that number to be at least 150 — and it doesn't necessarily have to come just from only running backs.
