Former Oklahoma State pitcher Tyler Lyons and the Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the Twins with a 5-1 win in Game 3 of the best-of-five American League Divisional Series on Monday at Target Field in Minneapolis to advance to the AL Championship Series.
The 31-year-old Lyons recorded a 10-pitch eighth inning in New York’s 8-2 victory in Game 2 of the ALDS on Saturday at Yankees Stadium. The left-hander struck out Jonathan Schoops and Max Kepler on six consecutive pitches then forced a deep flyball to left field from Jorge Polanco on the fourth pitch of the at bat.
