Thomas Hatch reached another milestone Friday.
The former Oklahoma State pitcher allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first MLB win in the Blue Jays’ 6-5 victory in 10 innings against the Rays at Tropicana Field.
Hatch entered the game tied 4-4, then became the pitcher of record when Blue Jays surged ahead as Cavan Biggio hit an RBI double then scored on Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s sacrifice fly in the 10th. Yandy Diaz hit a RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to make it 6-5, but Jordan Romano closed the door for Toronto’s sixth straight win.
