Oklahoma State football: UTSA passes on Glenn Spencer for head coaching position

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer, once considered a "strong candidate" for UTSA head coaching vacancy, has not been selected for the position, according to reports.

UTSA has selected LSU running backs coach Frank Wilson for the job, as reported by The Advocate newspaper and several other media outlets. FootballScoop.com first reported UTSA had offered Wilson the position.

Wilson — who spent the past six seasons in Baton Rouge — is a renowned recruiter who coached elite talents such as Leonard Fournette, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Stevan Ridley and Jeremy Hill.

UTSA coach Larry Coker, a former OSU assistant, resigned from his position earlier this month after posting a 26-32 record over five seasons.
