STILLWATER — Matt Davis peeked through a window on the Oklahoma State football equipment room two years ago, tapping into the sheer excitement to come.
For a Thursday night game against Texas Tech, Davis and the rest of OSU's equipment crew pulled off a pregame switcheroo, placing orange chrome helmets in lockers after sending players out to warm up in white helmets. It was the debut of the now wildly popular chrome lid.
“When those guys came back in, the place went crazy,” said Davis, OSU's director of football equipment operations. “They were so fired up for just a helmet.
