STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's 33-26 overtime victory at West Virginia two Saturdays back came in the unlikeliest of ways considering what took place the previous four quarters.
Starting OSU tailback Chris Carson's longest rush was five yards. The Cowboys combined for just seven runs of that distance or longer. Take away Mason Rudolph's 40-yard third quarter scramble and their average yards per carry was a stagnant 2.5.
So, what happened when OSU got the ball first in the extra period?
Six plays. Six runs. Twenty-five yards. Finishing with quarterback J.W. Walsh in the end zone.
“We had enough time to talk about it and we made some adjustments formation wise,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said postgame.
