In the span of a couple of days, Oklahoma State football's quarterback competition has gone from four to two names.
Garret Rangel, a redshirt junior from Frisco, Texas, has entered the transfer portal, per report. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
This comes two days after redshirt freshman QB Maealiuaki Smith entered the portal, too. Redshirt sophomore Zane Flores and TCU transfer redshirt freshman Hauss Hejny are now the two frontrunners for the 2025 OSU quarterback job.
Rangel's OSU career was up and down. After appearing in and starting three games his freshman season — when he was thrown to the wolves to lead an injury-riddled OSU team that was underperforming expectations — he was in the 2023 three-QB rotation to begin the season.
