DALLAS — Mike Gundy strolled into his first Big 12 Media Days in 2005 with a meticulously manicured haircut and delivered an optimistic message to reporters with nervous energy.
“I think that in the first six months of being on this job that the people in the state of Oklahoma have started to respect me for being a head coach,” Gundy said, “and not just a player that had success at Oklahoma State.”
Monday was Gundy's 12th consecutive appearance at the annual summer gathering. Had brown hair not cascaded down his neck, a mullet reminiscent of the once Cowboy quarterback, there would be no need to recall Gundy's playing days.
