Oklahoma State football: J.W. Walsh to reconnect with former Cowboy assistant Doug Meacham at TCU

STILLWATER — Long before quarterback J.W. Walsh earned folk hero status at Oklahoma State, he was a high school junior set to meet with a Cowboy assistant.

Walsh would wind up with double-digit scholarship offers by his senior year at Denton Guyer (Texas) as the nation's fourth-rated dual-threat quarterback in the country per Rivals. But it was Doug Meacham who laid the groundwork for Walsh's journey to Stillwater.

“The first one was Coach Meacham,” Walsh said in October. “He was the first to come through.”

Turns out, it wouldn't be the last time Walsh bought in to Meacham's vision.
